The Pyrmont Curaçao Taps Seasoned Caribbean Hospitality Leaders Ahead of November Opening

Rob de Bekker has returned to the island as The Pyrmont’s General Manager, while Anjali Bakmeijer has been promoted to the Multi-Property Director of Sales & Marketing

Rob de Bekker has returned to the island after a 30-year hospitality career spanning Curaçao, Aruba, Jamaica and Bermuda as The Pyrmont’s General Manager, while Anjali Bakmeijer has been promoted to the Multi-Property Director of Sales & Marketing, bringing years of on-island commercial leadership to the resort, in addition to Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort.

Rob de Bekker | General Manager

Rob de Bekker joins The Pyrmont Curaçao as General Manager, bringing over 30 years of Caribbean hospitality experience to the role. Most recently General Manager of Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa in Bermuda, de Bekker previously led Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort in Curaçao, where he became a General Manager at age 35, following an earlier tenure as Director of Food & Beverage at Hilton Rose Hall in Jamaica. A graduate of Hotelschool Maastricht, he returns to an island he has called home twice before and will oversee The Pyrmont's opening and approximately 350 to 400 associates. De Bekker speaks five languages, including Papiamento, which he and his family speak at home, reflecting a personal connection to Curaçao that complements his previous leadership experience on the island.

Anjali Bakmeijer | Multi-Property Director of Sales & Marketing

Anjali Bakmeijer is a seasoned hospitality professional with more than two decades of experience across Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Reservations, and Events & Catering. Born and raised in Curaçao, she brings a deep understanding of the island’s culture, history and people and a background of extensive experience driving commercial performance and creating meaningful guest experiences to her new role. Most recently, Bakmeijer served as Director of Sales & Marketing for Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort for six years before being promoted to Multi-Property Director of Sales & Marketing, expanding her responsibilities to include The Pyrmont Curaçao. Prior to joining Marriott, she held various sales and wedding services roles at leading Curaçao resorts, including Hyatt and Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort. After studying abroad, Bakmeijer returned to Curaçao with a desire to bring her experience home and contribute to the island’s continued growth. Today, she blends her knowledge and industry relationships with a strategic, data-driven approach to position The Pyrmont for a successful opening and long-term growth. For Bakmeijer, bringing The Pyrmont to market is an opportunity to tell Curaçao’s story through the guest experience, weaving in local artists, artisans, farmers and creatives throughout the resort. She is particularly focused on creating “pockets of experiences”; unexpected moments across art, food, design and culture that give guests a deeper connection to the island.
