Dubai, UAE (XX May 2023): Rixos Premium Dubai, in collaboration with the Arabian Desert Camel Riding Centre, took a significant step towards environmental conservation by organising a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity focused on desert cleaning. The initiative, conducted on the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, aimed to address the threat posed by plastic pollution to camels and other wildlife in the UAE.
On May 22nd, a total of 21 dedicated employees, 16 from Rixos Premium Dubai and 5 from the Arabian Desert Camel Riding Centre, participated in the event, which took place in Lisaili Al Marmoom desert. The teams worked diligently, collecting 10 large bags of trash, weighing approximately 80 kilograms. Among the waste gathered were plastic items, glass bottles, and iron nets, which can all be very harmful to camels and other animals if consumed.
The initiative not only emphasised the importance of preserving the desert ecosystem but also provided an opportunity for the participants to deepen their understanding of camels. Alongside the desert cleaning activities, employees engaged in educational sessions, learning fascinating facts about camels and had the privilege to feed these magnificent creatures.
Plastic pollution continues to pose a significant threat to grazing camels and other wildlife in the desert. Unfortunately, the trash found in the deserts surrounding Al Lisaili is primarily left behind by humans. Rixos Premium Dubai believes in leading by example and taking responsibility for the well-being of the environment. By organising this CSR activity, the aim was to encourage a change in behaviour and promote responsible actions towards protecting the desert and its inhabitants.
In light of this initiative, Rixos Premium Dubai also wishes to provide the public with some essential tips to keep the desert clean during recreational activities. Individuals are encouraged to utilise dustbins with lids to prevent waste from being scattered by the wind and to clean up after themselves thoroughly. By adopting these simple practices, everyone can contribute to the preservation of the pristine desert environment.
Rixos Premium Dubai and the Arabian Desert Camel Riding Centre have a continued commitment towards environmental conservation and they both take their positions as role models very seriously. With plenty more similar activities planned for the near future, keep an eye on www.rixos.com for more information.
