Dubai, United Arab Emirates September 2, 2021. The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, and Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel Suites welcome Andrew Astley as their new Multi-Property Director of Engineering.
British national, Andrew, started his career with the British Royal Navy's marine engineering department. In 2011, following 23 years working with the navy, he then relocated to the United Arab Emirates where he began his tenure within the hospitality industry. Andrew has since spent the past ten years leading various engineering teams at a luxury hotel and hospitality companies including the Jumeirah Group, Shangri-La in Abu Dhabi, Intercontinental Group and, most recently, as Director of Engineering at the Bluewaters Caesars Palace Complex.
A highly skilled engineer, Andrew brings a wealth of experience and extensive knowledge of managerial and diagnostic skills to this role. He is a proven team leader and has focused on supporting hotel operations in implementing sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. In 2013, he was recognized by the Hotelier Middle East Awards for being Highly Commended as Engineer of the Year.
In his new role, Andrew will be responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations including energy conservation and sustainability practices within both hotels, a portfolio of 1,804 rooms and 15 FB outlets.
