Journey to Sri Lanka with Anantara

Anantara Resorts Join Sri Lanka’s International Tourism Drive

Bangkok, 2 February 2021: Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas'award-winning Sri Lankan properties are joining the Indian Ocean island nation's efforts to lure international travellers back after the reopening of its borders on 21st January 2021. Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort and Anantara Kalutara Resort are among the few internationally branded five-star hotels that have been certified by the government as Level 1 'Safe and Secure' to welcome international travellers as part of the country's 'bio-bubble' approach to kick start tourism.

Anantara Kalutara Resort is set to welcome international guests from 6th February 2021, and Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort from 22nd February 2021.

Under Sri Lanka's new tourism safety protocols, international travellers have the flexibility to stay in several of the certified hotels during their initial 14-day bio-bubble period, for instance in a private pool villa at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, combined with the tropical beach resort of Anantara Kalutara Resort.

Epitomising authentic luxury along Sri Lanka's southern coast, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort is surrounded by a 22-acre coconut plantation, a golden sandy crescent beach and turquoise ocean that offer spectacular seclusion. Here spacious guest rooms and private pool villas are designed for couples and families. Guests can stay energised with a host of leisure and fitness facilities, including beach yoga and meditation, laps in the double-layer swimming pool, tennis and nature and wildlife activities for all the family, or for a more leisurely pace visit Anantara Spa to immerse in indigenous wellness traditions or a soothing massage.

Uniquely secluded between the Indian Ocean and Kalu Ganga River, Anantara Kalutara Resort is naturally exclusive and exudes elegant simplicity and great craftsmanship inspired by the late Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka's most famous architect. This resort is located on the coast south of Colombo, a one hour drive from Bandaranaike International Airport, and showcases stunning open spaces while large corridors lead to wonderfully landscaped gardens. Guests can relax on the recently renovated beach, rejuvenate with Ayurvedic spa therapies or with a Bastien Gonzalez pedicure, or enjoy more adrenaline fuelled activities such as ziplining, abseiling and jet skiing.

Both resorts offer a selection of indulgent dining experiences. At Anantara Kalutara guests can enjoy Italian, Asian and local Sri Lankan cuisines, along with relaxing in the sports bar, whilst at Anantara Tangalle options include Japanese and Teppanyaki, an Italian restaurant with a world-class wine selection and a farm to table dining experience overlooking rice paddies. In addition, both properties offer a kids' club and the personalised service for which Anantara is renowned.

The country's new 'bio-bubble' approach allows for international travellers to visit select attractions, which include Udawalawe and Yala National Parks in the south of the country, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the islands famed Sigiriya Fortress and to go whale watching from Mirissa. These places and more can be visited from either Anantara resort, travelling in fully sanitised luxury vehicles.

Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort and Anantara Kalutara Resort have implemented sweeping new health and hygiene measures focusing on guests' wellbeing. To ensure guests feel safe and secure during their stay, Anantara's Stay With Peace of Mind programme builds on existing health and safety measures for heightened sanitisation and hygiene. Each resort has a dedicated 'Guest Guardian' responsible for regular disinfection and implementing social distancing measures where appropriate. From the fully sanitised airport transfers to the breakfast experience, guest to team member interactions are minimised to ensure that guest safety and wellbeing remains the utmost priority.

Anantara Tangalle and Anantara Kalutara are offering an enticing package 'Enjoy a Night on us', encouraging international guests to stay longer and save more.
