If you’re a big kid – or young at heart, depending on which way you want to see it – there is no doubt that you enjoy the rush and excitement of boarding a roller coaster and the thrill of teetering over the edge before the big drop.

There is a wide selection of roller coasters that can be found spread out across the globe, however, some of my favourites include those based on well-known and popular movies!

The Incredible Hulk Coaster ®: Universal Orlando Resort, USA

The Incredible Hulk is just that, incredible! I have had the opportunity to enjoy numerous rides on this amazing green coaster and I can safely say that it is by far my favourite so far, mainly because there are so many twists and turns that by the time you get to the end, you don’t know which way is up!

Riders enter the laboratories of Dr. Bruce Banner, have the opportunity to marvel at his towering scientific machinery. But once you approach his gamma-ray accelerator, warning flashing lights and sirens sound, signalling that there is something very wrong!

You will then feel the full force of this mean, green machine as the speed makes you feel as if you yourself has transformed into the Incredible Hulk!

The Green Hornet: High Speed Chase: motiongate™ DUBAI, UAE

Want a chance to save the day? The Green Hornet: High Speed Chase gives you the opportunity to just that, if you have the stomach to endure the journey, that is!

Hop in one of The Green Hornet’s rapid-response cars – his latest invention – and fly through a junkyard full of hazards and conquer the terrifying dizzy leaps that would have most people shaking in their boots!

The Green Hornet: High Speed Chase is located in motiongate™ DUBAI – a new theme park in Dubai – that will be opening later this year.

Scooby-Doo Spooky Coater: Movie World, Australia

Scooby-Doo is one of my favourite cartoon shows, even now as a 25-year-old! For the duration of this wacky and wonderful ride, riders will be “part terrier, part TERRIFIED” as a number of scary ghosts, ghouls and gargoyles jump out and try and get you.

Each of the coaster carts are inspired by the movie, complete with their own laser lightening and spooky sound effects, state-of-the-art animatronics and a chance to get in on the mystery!

Saw – The Ride: Thorpe Park, UK

If you’ve seen one or more of the movies, you’ll know that this ride isn’t for scaredy-cats and that there will be a lot of games involved!

Saw – The Ride takes the extreme movie to extreme heights, as riders can expect to take a journey through an assortment of “traps” and endure a gruesome series of corkscrews, loops and drops spread throughout the track before reaching the end.

Jigsaw – the creepy puppet from the movie – makes a number of appearances to taunt riders before they hop on board a carriage, both in person and in a series of videos.

Italian Job: Stunt Track: Wonderland, Canada

If you have an interest in speed and cars, this amazing roller coaster is for you. Taking after the movie, Italian Job: Stunt Track is a fun and fierce ride that has riders embarking on their very own car chase!

The train cars were designed to look like replicas of the Mini Coopers used in the movie, and they weave on the track through a backlot full of tricky obstacles with amazing special effects to boot.

An exhilarating ride, Italian Job: Stunt Track (which is now known as Backlot Stunt Chaser) gives riders the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a race car driver themselves!

Taking our favourite movies to a whole different dimension, the roller coasters mentioned in my guide are only the beginning of the long list of coasters inspired by amazing movies.
