The chocolate cake theory of pricing for Hotels

i will admiti have struggled with understanding the rate debate. Considering industry-wide average daily rate is down $10 from last year as experts preach about holding rate, I don’t think I’m alone.

I hv come to terms with how falling ADR hurts the industry as a whole. And I get how long it will take rate to recover from any slashing thats going on currently. And I completely buy the evidence that discounting does not create demand.

But when I step into the shoes of a… Continue

Dubai will not default

“It was inaccurate, it was unnecessary blind panic, it was a misunderstanding of the status of Dubai, which indeed is a centre of trade and economic activity, it was lack of knowledge of how much debt was the subject of the announcement and how it is related to the government debt.

“The reactions were caused by asymmetric information of the situation in Dubai,”

Dubai has become a land of economic opportunities and in a very short time attracted international attention and… Continue

Master List

Whenever we have an obligation to fulfill or a goal to reach, we remain thoughtful of its presence as long as it remains undone. We've all experienced from time to time the sense of stress related to having too much to do and not enough time. This about that sense of discomfort, anxiety or dread as long as the task remains outstanding. This state of mind is unproductive and often unnecessary. The use of a Master List coupled with systematic strategies allows us to more effectively manage… Continue

Should your business go paperless?

Consider the potential benefits and how they would affect YOUR business

Cutting Costs - Going paperless has the potential to cut certain costs from your budget. You'll no longer need to pay for the space and equipment necessary for keeping old documents.

If you've been storing a lot of files, that amount can certainly add up. Paperless companies have unlimited storage space for only a tiny fraction of the cost. You'll also reduce the amount of man power needed to… Continue

The situation of Dubai World is serious, yet its problems are largely driven by its property development business. Its logistics businesses are generally sound and… Continue

Happy Mr. Job Hopper - interesting thought to share

Interesting.....Don't miss the last 2 Questions...

Some, rather most organizations reject his CV today because he has changed jobs frequently (10 in 14 years). My friend, the ‘job hopper’ (referred here as Mr. JH), does not mind it…. well he does not need to mind it at all. Having worked full-time with 10 employer companies in just 14 years gives Mr. JH the relaxing edge that most of the ‘company loyal’ employees are struggling for today. Today, Mr. JH too is laid off like some other… Continue
