1. In the event of an uncontrolled fire in your facility, your first course of action should be to:
Answer::- c. activate the fire alarm.

By activating the fire alarm or directing another individual to do so, will let everyone in the building know that there is a problem. Evacuation can commence, response team members where applicable can assemble as guided by your emergency action plan, and the local fire department will be summoned to your site. Even a "small" fire warrants the activation of the fire alarm system; delayed notification of the fire department increases the chances of injury, property damage, and potentially the loss of a job to go back to after the fire is out.
2. Fire extinguishers are intended for use on what type of fire?
Answer: b. incipient

Fire extinguishers are intended for use on small, incipient fires. Providing annual fire extinguisher training to employees can more than double the effectiveness of a portable fire extinguisher.
3. How many classes of fire are recognized by the National Fire Protection Association (NAPA)?
Answer: c. five

Class A, ordinary combustibles; Class B, flammable liquids and gases; Class C, energized electrical sources; Class D, combustible metals; and Class K, cooking greases and oils.
4. A Class B fires involve what type of materials?
Answer: a. gases and oils
Flammable / combustible liquids and gases. The difference between flammable and combustible is the temperature at which they give off vapors, their flashpoint. A flammable liquid will give off vapors at or below 100°f. A combustible liquid will give off vapors when over 100°f.
5. Which of the following is not a form of heat transfer?
Answer:d. connection
Conduction is the travel of heat through direct contact, such as a metal pipe going through a wall. Convection is the travel of heat by the movement of liquids and gases through air currents. Radiation is the travel of heat energy in straight lines, away from the heat source.
6. The fire triangle consists of all of the following except?
Answer: d. chemical chain reaction.
The chemical chain reaction is needed for flaming mode combustion, kwon as the fire tetrahedron. It is generally not present during surface mode combustion, known as the fire triangle.
7. What type of extinguishing agent should be used on a combustible metal fire?
Answer:c. dry powder
Dry powder is a special form of fire fighting agent that is used for combustible metal fires. No one dry powder will work on all combustible metals, you must match the hazard to the agent.
8. Which of the following is not a Class of fire recognized by the NFPA?
Answer:c. Class E
There is no Class E fire recognized by the NFPA. It may be recognized in other part of the world however.
9. The best way to put out a fire in a pressurized gas line would be to:
Answer:b. shut off the flow of gas.
Extinguishing the fire without shutting off the flow of gas could create a much bigger problem for you. A buildup of vapors could re-ignite causing a explosion and possibly a collapse of nearby structures.
10. The local fire department should be called whenever an uncontrolled fire starts within your facility.
Answer:a. true
Small fires become big fires in a matter of minutes; seconds when flammable liquids or ample ordinary combustibles are involved. Calling the local fire department without delay will aid in the containment of fire damage and protection of those unable to protect themselves or those who are unaware of the danger around them.
