 HI  every one

I just  took over as a Manager a restaurant  in order to make some significant changes and as a result to increase major the  sales.

I did promote it on the internet ( even on facebook ), also on the local media such as radio stations and  magasines, share some flyers around the neighbourhood, trying some catering as well,  and so one, etc etc .

- Yet the results are not there yet, and I'm kind of upset on me , by now.

If somebody has some briliant ideas and are willing to share I would be glad to look on   it -Looking forward  and tnx in advance .

When you do promotions and advertising you have to be able to track them. If you don't you are wasting your money. You sent out all kinds of promos like arrows to see which one stuck. Find your guest first before you start a campaign. Who is your customer? Where does he come from, how does he get to you, how far does he travel, how did he hear about you. Is your customer service skill up to par? If you used Facebook who answered the comments, How did you use the internet? and so forth. If you don't plan well plan on failing.

Alan

Thank you for your advise.I will work on them, and eventually I will let you know about some  results, eventually. You are right about all those issues you pointed out to me.You have  a great experience .Thank you for sharing !

Kind regards,

Ovidiu

Mr.Alan you are right

-Yes , he is, indeed  !....

I'd like to add that no amount of marketing and advertising efforts would be useful without deep and careful analysis of other restaurants and outlets in the city and that are of your competitive set. You would definitely need to do a thorough competitor analysis and detailed SWOT Analysis firstly of your outlet and subsequently of all the other restaurants that you benchmark yourself with. If you haven't started this already then yes you are most definitely missing out on a lot of opportunities because more often than not (the guy next door) your competitor is already one step ahead of you and is eating your piece of the pie :P

Good luck and all the very best with the restaurant! :)

Kind regards,

Naveed

Hello OVIDIU,

before the marketing strategies, business plans, statistics and numbers, which can proove to be very useful,

i always like to take under consideration  the human factor .

Sometimes, even the best staff can use a little fresh kick, a new executive chef or some changes in the menu, talking with your personnel ,all of them might bring up subjects you're not aware off by now .

What your customers feel about the relation between the quality you offer them and the price they pay?

I firmly believe that a restaurant should keep a strong bond with the local markets, that can  provide fresh local ingredients and products, because that policy builds character  and flavor for the restaurant , and believe or not helps  with the promo too .

Dont give up ,kind regards Dimitrios Seferiadis

 Dear Dimitrios,

thank you !..Indeed the human factor was also a  major problem , but things are getting better.Thank you

Hi there

First you should identify the product that you want to use to have peoples attention. Use 2 or 3 famous product at a cheaper price so to get people in  your restaurant. Once they are in then, thats when you can now bring in more products especialy slow moving products to push or increase your volumes. Try to promote fast moving products like coffee, tea, or you may have a certain % of breakfast discounts vauchers for everyone who comes for a dinner or lunch. Also you have to consider the type of communication use can use to promote your restaurant dont just use everything just because its a communication tool.

good to ask to find the solution for your problem or to increase your revenue.

dear you said u did so many promotion to you restaurant.....good

but have you did a check the market compatitors on your zone....? you have to study the market, location, menues, varity, prices and their specials...etc

you have to do all this (market compatitors) on the same level of your restaurant. then you will automaticly know exactly what kind and shortage and savest way to promote your restaurant,

thanks

Well, after I have gone through all the detailed point which the fellow participant in this discussion have already given,I would like to share my own ideas.

for luxury segments of Restaurant

1.Tie up with major/high end international credit card company for offer and discounts... if a guest settle a bill through xyz intl credit card,he will be entitled to get 15% flat discount.with this tie up....your restaurant will be advertised by the bank itself in a large volume like top hoardings, lifestyle magazine, website, etc, where you don't have cost from your side upon such things.

2.Tie up with the luxury high end car showroom......upon selling a car,the dealer will hand over a entry coupon to the posh guest, where the guest will have a great offer of discount on the presenting of the coupon, while dining, with this you can target the corporate guest as it deals with the word posh guest.here the word of mouth will work.where again the car show room will advertise for you.

3.If your restaurant is a part of a 5 star establishment....you along with a colleague can go for a sales blitz where you can present your restaurant info to the corporate.

4.Check for the big happening in the city like trade show, and festival, etc in outdoor which is not related to any organisation, there you go and meet with the top delegates or CEO of the company, just put a word about the invitation to your restaurant.Definitely you will get result.

there are end number of ideas which can be implemented to increase the footfall in your restaurant.I wish i could have share all those but have to open FB.......;) .always keep in mind that from top to bottom, all your staff should have the passion for the job which they are doing.Good Luck!

Its well said that "Its easy to make a customer and its hard to keep a customer". In my whole life I noticed that your team is actually the best 'Marketing Person' for any service or product. Then comes the promotional activities to retain the customer. Ofcourse, you must be aware of the Cost of product and be sure to not miss even the smallest item's cost e.g, Napkins cleaning cost or even tooth pick. It will take a little time in beginning but later on it will your best tool. One of the marketing strategies is known as 'Negative Marketing'. When you are spending money on activities, which you think are right but in fact they are going in wrong direction. Only YOU can realize, where it is wasted.

Few of the 'retaining a customer' promotions could be 'See you again' coupon with discounts, Introduce your friend, (Keeping data to re-use for B'day card, Birthday offers, Anniversaries etc.)

Keeping record also help you to see the result of your promotional activity. However first of all, the very important thing is 'Product Knowledge' and training to your staff. Never guess that an experienced person doesn't need 'Training' and never think if training is done once, there wouldn't be any need of it again. you don't have to spend extra money for Outsourced Trainer. You can do it by yourself  or arrange 'Brain Storming session with your team.

Best of Luck
